After performing as an actor with the theater company Haiyuza, Kenji began aspiring to make films. He worked as an actor and producer with the theater company he founded with his older brother Katsuto. In 2000, he established a company called Ozma Produce. In 2004, he founded a film production company called JungleWalk, followed by JungleWalk USA in 2008. He co-directed “The Neighbor” in 2009, “Where Florence Sleeps” in 2016, and "The Dark Raven" with his brother. He won various awards for his work including Best Picture.
