About Me
Hayato “Kevin” Mitsuishi is Producer and CEO of Kevin’s Entertainment, a film production company based in Los Angeles.
Many of his films include Japanese elements such as theme, talent, director, or location. This is due to his cultural background and ties to the country. He also produces film that have nothing to do with Japan. His experience working in both the US and Japan has helped cultivate relations to produce films in both countries.
Hayato is unique in that he has both a creative and business background. His strong analytical skills were forged from his corporate background and his creative skills were cultivated in his film production and videography work.
His ability to produce is also evidenced in him successfully running LA EigaFest, the premiere Japanese film festival in Los Angeles. He premiered tentpole Japanese films in North America, and flew in celebrities from Japan to walk the red carpet. He negotiated with talent agencies, film distributors, and sponsors, created relationships with the media to promote his festival, and managed over 100 staff and volunteers.
Hayato has also worked for both a major Hollywood studio (20th Century Fox) and an independent film company (Kevin's Entertainment) making him a versatile producer.
Hayato is also a professional native level Japanese / English interpreter with 20+ years of experience in interpretation. He has interpreted for various industries including finance, business, government, entertainment, etc... He has an intricate sense of cultural and business acumen due to an international background of living, studying, and working in Canada, Japan, and the United States.
Hayato was born and raised in Toronto, Canada to Japanese parents, went to New York for high school, then to Tokyo, Japan for college.
After graduating from college, he joined a Japanese trading company working in the Accounting, Business development, and marketing/sales divisions.
He then came to Los Angeles to pursue his MBA and career in entertainment.
After graduating from business school, Hayato started working at 20th Century Fox. The following year, he started his own film production company, Kevin's Entertainment.
Through his endeavors to promote mutual appreciation between Japan and Hollywood, Hayato co-founded the Japan Film Society, a non-profit organization established to promote Japanese film and culture in the United States. He then started LA EigaFest, the premiere Japanese film festival in Los Angeles that ran from 2011 - 2015.
Hayato received his MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in Los Angeles and holds a BA in Business and Commerce from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.
